What you need to visit the UK in 2025 – electronic travel authorization

New UK travel regulations for U.S. citizens!

 

It’s almost 2025. A new year full of potential new destinations and trips!

Many countries and population destinations are adding new requirements for travel.

Here, we’re briefing on UK

 

Starting Jan 8, 2025

the UK will require travelers to have an electronic travel authorization.

If you’re a US citizen and planning on a trip to the UK for tourism, for business, or short-term study (<6 months) …

 

Additional important info you need to know:

  • ETA Cost: £10 (~$13 USD *varies depending on currency rate)
  • Permits multiple UK visits
  • Valid for 2 yrs or until Passport expiration date (if passport expires in under 2 yrs)
  • UK stays up to 6 months at a time
  • Required for all individuals (including minors/children)
  • Processing takes about 3 days 

So make sure you plan for buffer time and apply slightly ahead to account for processing time.
